About

All about me...   Donna Dodd

Born in New Jersey and transplanted to North Florida as a toddler, my parents provided me with opportunities to witness the 1960's and 1970's in the south. From the Space Age race to the moon, Civil Rights turmoil, along with school segregation and desegregation, I had first hand experiences. I consider myself 99.9% Southern Belle, as .1% of me doesn't like Sweet Tea.

My college opportunities took me first to Cuthbert, Georgia, where I attended a small liberal arts school, nestled among the pecan trees of southwest Georgia, called Andrew College. In May of 1979, I earned an Associate of Science degree at Andrew College, with a focus on education. Traveling approximately 3 hours south, I completed my undergraduate studies at Florida State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interpersonal Communications with a minor in Marketing.

Entering corporate America in the early eighties, I climb the corporate management ladder, having successful careers with Federated Department Stores, Inc. and Deliotte & Touche« Management Consulting Group. My family grew in the late eighties and early nineties, as my daughter, Kelly, and son, Cameron were born. In the mid-nineties, I had the wonderful opportunity to make a lifestyle change and focused my energy on raising my two children. After child rearing and 12 years of substitute teaching, I decided to pursue my passion of teaching. I earned a Master of Arts degree in Teaching at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. My goal to graduate Summa Cum Laude was achieved in July, 2013. I am also a member of the Alpha Chi Omega National Sorority, Beta Eta Chapter at FSU, and Golden Key - Alpha Chapter at GSU.

My children have grown up and have become amazing young adults. The power of suggestion, regarding college alliance, ran deep in our house as Kelly is a 2009 graduate of FSU, and Cameron followed by attending FSU in the fall of 2010, he is now completing his degree at Georgia State University. We are proud to be a part of the Seminole Nation.

Birmingham Falls Elementary School, in the farthest northwest corner of Fulton County as you can get, is where I started my professional career as a teacher. My Middles Grades Math and Science certification filled a need for BFES to accommodate advanced and accelerated students with a highly qualified teacher for their 6th grade math classes in their 5th grade year in elementary school.

During my 3 years at Birmingham Falls, I completed my certification in all subject areas at the Middle Grades level, which brought me to Taylor Road Middle School. My professional adventure in TAG Social Studies is now entering my 4 year, as I feel I am home after an extended journey with deep ties to TRMS. My son, Cameron, was a student at Taylor Road from, 2003-2006. Taylor Road Middle School is blessed to have many of his teachers currently still teaching at TRMS, and that I, now, have the privilege to work with.

This summer, I married a wonderful man that I met at Ballroom Dance lessons at my church in 2010. The opportunity to get married in South Africa was presented to us through an organization we support called Teach Every Nation (TEN). Approximately, 3.5 hours northeast of Johannesburg, SA, Teach Every Nation owns a wildlife game reserve called https://www.hippolakes.co.za/ I invite you to plan an adventure of a lifetime for you and your family and come to Hippo Lakes, tell them you know Donna Dodd, I promise youÕll get extra special attention, and you'll even get to see the 2 giraffes named after my husband and me, James and Donna.
