My name is Mar'a del Carmen Mendo-Crowe a native Spanish speaker who was born and raised in Lima, Peru. I lived there until 2003 when I moved to the United States. I graduated from Pontifical Catholic University of Peru with a degree in education majoring in Spanish language and Literature. During the time I lived in Peru, I worked in the education field for almost 15 years as a Spanish teacher for college students and as an academic and curriculum administrator.
I am a member of the Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers (CCFLT) and every year I participate in the conferences they organize. These conferences helped me refresh my knowledge of CI (Comprehensible Input) and learn powerful strategies to deliver CI to engage my students in developing communicative competence and fluency in the target language. Also, I learn new routines to promote the 90% staying in the target language.
This is my twelfth year at North Star Academy and I am thankful for the privilege of teaching your child and look forward to the school year.
