Rangers coach Craig McPherson has been handed a six-match suspension after headbutting Celtic Women manager Fran Alonso during last month's SWPL Old Firm clash, an act which was captured on television footage and caused shockwaves within Rangers fans and beyond.
Dramatic derby action saw Brogan Hay put Rangers ahead, only for Caitlin Hayes to score an equaliser at the very last second of extra time - sparking wild celebration on Celtic bench and cementing itself as one of recent history's most remarkable matches.
The incident
Craig McPherson seemed to intentionally strike out at Celtic women's manager Fran Alonso at full-time during a dramatic draw at Broadwood Stadium last month when Brogan Hay opened up scoring before Caitlin Hayes equalised in the 99th minute, denyiing Gers a victory they were so close to winning. This triggered an eruption between players and coaching staff at full-time that resulted in a melee between both camps at full-time.
As Alonso approached the Gers bench to shake hands with his team-mates, McPherson approached from behind him with the intention of throwing a headbutt at Alonso's backside - sparking furious scenes that were captured on film by Sky Sports that led to him receiving a six-match ban from playing football again.

The SFAês decision
The Scottish FA (SFA), Scotland's footballing governing body, has issued Rangers women's coach Craig McPherson with a six-match suspension for headbutting Celtic manager Fran Alonso during a match that ended 1-1 at Broadwood Stadium. This incident took place March 11.
Fans filmed the incident and it has since been widely condemned as a shocking act of violence. Following this event, police launched an investigation while today the SFA banned McPherson.
Steve Conroy, former referee, believes that any form of violent or disruptive conduct should result in a lifetime ban from football. As evidence, Conroy cited Duncan Ferguson who received a three-month jail term after headbutting Raith Rovers player John McStay in 1994.
Police investigation
The Scottish FA has issued Craig McPherson with a six-match suspension from coaching during Old Firm derbie last month at Broadwood Stadium due to an incident caught on video where they exchanged blows during an apparent disagreement on the pitch.
Alonso stated McPherson pushed and directed a headbutt from behind at him, prompting police to conduct their own investigation into this claim. This incident followed a dramatic matchup that saw Brogan Hay's first half opener cancelled out by Celtic's 99th minute equaliser from Caitlin Mary Hayes.
DPS suspended Christopher Ryan Kindell, who led that investigation at Robb Elementary. This suggested DPS leaders were acting quickly to show elected officials and the public they were taking action instead of engaging in a more thorough dialogue about who was to blame for what had occurred.
McPhersonês apology
McPherson immediately and publicly issued an apology last week for the incident in question, not only accepting all punishment that might come his way but apologising to both himself, the team, and club for his behavior.
McPherson admitted to breaking Rule 77 - which states that team staff must act in the best interests of association football - during his admission hearing at Hampden on Friday and is facing a six-match suspension as a result of disciplinary hearing proceedings. This suspension will begin Monday.
McPherson may have received a six-match suspension, but that should not deter her from leading Rangers Women to victory this season. They sit joint second in the SWPL table - eight points back of leaders Glasgow City. Though Ibrox remain hopeful of their first title win since early 1990s - with eight remaining games to come this season they need good fortune in competition to take them all the way!
