High Rock Archaeological Dig
Dear Cluster Five Families,
On October 21-24, we will be participating in an archaeological dig during our Social Studies classes. On these days, students should wear older clothes to school and bring in a second pair of old shoes to be worn outside. An extra outfit to change into might not be a bad idea either as students will likely get dirty.
Each team of archaeologists needs to prepare a tool kit on Monday, Oct. 20th, before the first day of digging on the 21st.
Dig Kits (one kit per team!)
1 bucket or simmilar container for all the tools
1 pencil for each student in the group
2-3 digging spades (small hand held ones) or other small digging tool
1-2 old paintbrushes or scrub brushes (these will get dirty)
1-2 toothbrushes (preferably not the ones you use at night!)
Gloves if you don’t like your hands getting dirty
In addition, each student will need:
An old pair of shoes to wear while digging (these will get really dirty)
A plastic bag for dirty shoes and clothes after each dig day
After excavating and analyzing the items uncovered, our archaeologists will be writing up their findings and creating a presentation. Time will be given during Tech classes for the presentation, but work on the written portions of the project will likely be assigned for home.
Please review this packet carefully, to make sure all archaeologists are aware of the expectations we have for this experience.
Thank you,
Mr. Dorsey
