Kedarkantha Trek Diffculty
Introduction
Kedarkantha is a 6-day trek in the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park in Uttarakhand, as opposed to the well-known Kedarnath Temple (6 when including the travel days from Dehradun to the base camp and back). In the winter, hikers of all skill levels enjoy Kedarkantha Diffculty, one of the most well-known treks in India.
The climb to Kedarkantha's summit is definitely worthwhile. From the base camp of the expedition, the summit is easily seen. As you begin your adventure in the morning and progressively climb the snowy slope, the area around you begins to open up.
You get a great sense of accomplishment as you push yourself and take in the Himalayan views as you move closer to the summit. Nothing comes close to this sensation.
Kedarkantha - Recommended for Novices
Let's start with some encouraging news: Kedarkantha is a fantastic journey for first-timers. We frequently witness first-timers who select this route having a really daring peak ascent and returning home safely and joyfully. Any person, regardless of skill level, can try the Kedarkantha journey.
However, because this journey is at a high altitude, I don't want you to take it lightly.
Altitude
At first, you begin the trek at a height of about 6,500 feet. After that, you do the last ascent of 12,500 feet in three days. This indicates that there are numerous rises throughout the hike, and you gain altitude each day.
(9,400 feet on Day 1; 10,800 feet on Day 2; 12,500 feet on Day 3).
A Summit Climb and Snowy Winters are Difficult Terrain
The terrain is our next topic. On this walk, there aren't many severe ascents. The majority of the ascent to the summit is a gradual one. However, the trail's hardest section is the push to the summit. However, there isn't much in the way of gradient or topography to be concerned about for the remainder of the walk.
However, this is not constant throughout the year. With the winter, when the trails are heavily covered in snow, things could get a little challenging. Our technical team will be there for you the entire time, of course. If there is snow, they remove it all from the trail and make sure you are walking on a safe surface.
Verglas is fairly frequent on Kedarkantha, so if you're travelling alone, be sure you know where you're going. You must navigate various portions that have a lot of verglas and snow. But only from December until about mid-April is this true. After that, you won't encounter this very frequently.
Weather in the winter
The temps represent the last area of difficulty. Winters only experience this issue. Evening lows of between -5 and -8 degrees can be a challenge. But it's manageable during the day. Bring at least five warm clothes with you and take care of yourself while hiking.
Getting in Shape for Kedarkantha
Now that I've explained the degree to which Kedarkantha is difficult, let's look at how you should get ready for the walk. Only if you are physically fit can you successfully handle all of the aforementioned factors. If you're not, you'll have a difficult time hiking.
Running
Start by going for daily runs. Aim to complete 5 km of running no later than 40 minutes before your walk begins. This should be something you can perform again, not just once or twice.
If you're not a runner, start off slowly. Beginning with 1 or 2 km every day, you can increase your distance until you can complete 5 km in 40 minutes. So, to prepare for the Kedarkantha trek, you will need to make plans 45 to 2 months in advance.
And in terms of the trek's difficulty, if you're in shape, you don't need to worry at all!
It's essential to pack everything you'll need for a safe and enjoyable hike. On this blog, you may find a list of everything you need to pack for the Kedarkantha Trek.
The best time to go
Winter is the ideal season for climbing Kedarkantha, especially in the snowiest months of December, January, February, and March. Kedarkantha experiences severe winters all year long. During this season, Kedarkantha's temperature falls below zero, and the area stays icy.
The region frequently experiences substantial snowfall, which makes the weather in Kedarkantha extremely cool and damp. Walking becomes slightly more challenging as a result, but the adventure and excitement increase. At this time of year, many intermediate and experienced trekkers travel to Ke darkantha because of the lofty, snow-covered mountain trails and the breathtaking scenery.
