Read "Worth the Wait" (it's attached in this assignment) and answer the questions that follow. Put your completed work in the box.
Work on your essays from the Common App questions. Get as far along as you can.
In the last 20-30 minutes or so of class, read chapters 5 through 11 of A Thousand Splendid Suns. You will have a blanks quiz on Friday, Jan. 20th. If you don't have the book, you can use the attached PDF version of the novel. Also, after reading, write one full page (even a few lines longer if you need to) that explains (with details) how Mariam's life has changed in these chapters AND what you think the author, Kahled Hoesseini, is trying to say about the role of women in this society. Be specific, use as many details as you can (at least four), and make a strong point. Due next Friday, Jan. 20. You can earn extra credit by keeping columns of questions and details as you read.
