Read chapter 5--be ready for a quiz on Wed., Sept. 28th. Also pick a specific piece of dialogue from any character and give it a larger context. What makes it significant? Also, break the dialogue up into specific words/phrases and address how they help build the meaning of the dialogue (in other words, give it the AP Lang treatment). No length requirement--just write until you're done.

And write a brief answer to this question: Is Irving using humor to hide a deeper, more serious idea within this chapter?
