Read through the halfway point of the last half of the book--through chapter 16. We'll have a quiz Tuesday on chapters 11-16 that will count 10%. We'll have a quiz Thursday that will cover the entire last half of the book for 90%.

As you read, continue to annotate. Let's keep our focus on lines that build the parallels between nature and Janie, and let's also focus on lines or passages in which we see contrasts between the way Janie is now and the way she was during the first part of the book. You'll see a lot of this contrast between "old" Janie and "new" Janie in the way Hurston builds her relationship with Tea Cake (through plot, narration, and dialogue), so pay close attention to that.

There's no particular number of lines/phrases/passages you should have, but I would think, on average, a few per chapter is fair. Annotations are due Thursday.
