Read chapters 8 and 9 of Lord of the Flies.  Write a 1-2 page argument based on what happens in the chapters. Consider characters' actions, themes, conflicts, author intent--any of those things (or countless others) can provide the basis for an argument.  Make your argument as specific and as narrow as you can.  Introduce your argument as early as you can.  Support your argument with as many details from the text (descriptions, dialogue, etc.) as you can.  Simply put: Stake a claim based on the text and support it with evidence.
