1) Ishmael Beah is the narrator, and he is telling his own story. But yet he is unafraid to show us the bad things he did. For chapters 13-14, write an essay that addresses a strategy behind Beah showing himself at his worst. Use at least five examples of text for support. Your essay should be two pages long, double-spaced, 12 font, no header.

For chapters 15-17, use this sentence to help you make an argument as to Beah's strategy behind focusing on his life immediately after being in the war. You should use other specific evidence, and you shouldn't think of this as an essay just about that one sentence--but you should use it as part of your argument. Also, on the due date, you will have a fill-in-the-blanks quiz. You will be given a number of sentences from the book, and you will have to fill in the blank/blanks in those sentences with the correct word.
