Through Chapter 16--due on March 31st.
Take substantive notes with pen and paper--write down things you notice, questions/ideas you have, arguments you can make. You should have at least a page or so. If you take more notes than that, you can choose which page you'd like to turn in.Along with your notes, write two pages about the construction of the book--address what you believe to be the intended effect of the alternating chapters; use specific details from multiple chapters. You should use evidence from the entire book to this point. Make sure that in some form or fashion you clearly state,"Steinbeck uses this alternating-chapter format because..." Remember...you don't have to be right. Maybe there is no "right." But you should be able to make a valid argument.
