Exchange papers with a partner. Quietly read his/her responses, then quietly discuss those responses with each other.

Consider the topic, the audience, and the speaker and make an argument for why Colleen Wenke's rhetorical approach is effective. Begin working on your own, and you'll have the opportunity to work in groups on Tuesday. 

Your finished product should have the following:

1) A sentence or two that states the topic of the essay, the essay's intended audience, and the author; that states what you believe to be the author's message; and that argues for why the author's strategy for delivering her message was effective. 

2) Five pieces of text that support your argument with a brief explanation of how those pieces of text directly support your argument.

3) Answer questions 4, 6, and 7 from "Questions on Writing Strategy."
