Additional Info

For chapter 10, choose at least three examples of text that you feel support an argument you see being made in the chapter. Write down the example word for word, then analyze it for structure, diction, content, etc., and explain how the sentence makes a larger point relevant to the chapter.

For chapter 11, choose at least three examples of text that you feel support a larger argument you see Beah developing throughout the book. This means that you choose an example of text, talk about its immediate context and importance, then it's larger context and importance within the book as a whole, then its possible implications to life outside the novel--look for ways Beah is commenting on his personal experience AND the world in general.

Find the sentence in chapter 12 that you think is the most important to the chapter. Do not choose a quote--make sure it's something Beah has written. Take the sentence apart and look at each part, and argue how the language, structure, and intent of the sentence make it the most important to the chapter. Write a page, double-spaced, 12-font, no header or grand intro--just jump in.
