Write your own passage that uses a specific rhetorical device that you can identify.  This passage should relate a personal experience from which you learned a "simple truth."  For instance, from working many lousy jobs during high school and beyond, I learned that happiness was the most important thing I wanted from my career.  Were I to write this essay, I would reference several specific former jobs and explain what made them so lousy.  I would probably rely heavily on imagery to "show" my audience how lousy these previous jobs really were.  I would build from this point to a rousing conclusion where we see the lesson put into action as I begin teaching.  Hmmm...that would make a great movie.
