Additional Info
Below is the link to TED Talk about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. If you access it this way, follow the same directions you did for the email. Go to the link, and if doesn't play, log in by clicking on the three dots in the upper right. Use your school user name and password. Then go back to the website through this link again.

If you can't get it to play, you'll just have to read it--the transcript is attached. And if the video plays, you can follow along with the transcript or not...it's up to you.

When you're finished watching the video, you need to answer the following questions to the best of your ability:
1) What do you find most remarkable about the story of Nancy, her son Pete, and the Frates family?

2) When Pete learns of his diagnosis, his reaction is basically, "We're going to attack this disease, and we're not going to wallow in pity." Being totally honest, what do you imagine your response to a diagnosis like this would be ?

3) Read the attached document entitled "Slacktivism" written by someone who is critical of things like the Ice Bucket Challenge (instead of "activism" the author calls it "slactivism"). Write your response to his argument. Do you agree with him? Disagree? Do you fall somewhere in the middle? Do you see in flaws in his argument? Are there things he's overlooking or not considering?
