Classwork, 1/12
English Classes
Date Due
Jan. 12, 2017
Additional Info
- Read "Worth the Wait" and answer the questions that follow--it's attached in this assignment. Put your completed work in the box.
- Work on your essays from the Common App questions. Get as far along as you can.
- In the last 20-30 minutes or so of class, read through the middle of page 27 in the PDF version of The Road (it's the bottom of page of 89 in the book). Stop at the end of the paragraph that reads, "Then they set out across the fields toward the road." As you read, write down at least 10 sentences or phrases that you feel help to build the tension and suspense in the story. Look for sentences that are sort of sneaky in the way they build tension, too. Remember--in this world, ANYTHING feels dangerous...a sound, a movement...anything could mean danger for the man and boy. Bring the sentences to class next Wednesday, January 18th.
