Additional Info
Hi Year 10!
Apologies for the delay, my brain was fried yesterday!
Task One - presenting mind map
Please present your mind map on the first DOUBLE in your sketchbook, aka turn over the first single page! Follow the steps below.
- prep a background on the double page that blends well with your existing collage.
- cut/rip sections of your collage that you like the most. Place on double pages, consider composition.
- use the remaining collage to layer underneath or on top, to support your chosen sections of collage.
- in all gaps, write as many words as you can think of that link to our overarching theme of Ordinary/extraordinary. REMEMBER - this collage is general, not specific.
Task Two - consolidating personal theme
Using the PowerPoints in Showbie and your own research, come to Tuesdays lesson prepared to start your resource double page. You need to have a clear understanding of your specific theme, and to do this you MUST research and note down any artists in Showbie that you think link to your theme. On the resource page you can document an unlimited amount of artworks that link, so find as many as you can.
REMEMBER - #1 your theme needs to sustain you until December. If the artist’s work that links to your theme/your theme itself makes you want to take a nap, CHANGE YOUR THEME. You will be bored by June. If you’re stuck, make it personal. You will never get bored if it is personal to you.
REMEMBER - #2 you will need to take your own photos when you’re making art this year….will you have consistent access to Egyptian pyramids, Dragons or Ryan Reynolds? If not, LAST CHANCE TO CHANGE YOUR THEME.
REMEMBER - DEPTH, DEPTH, DEPTH.
Example: ‘Nature’? Eh. ‘Flora and Fauna’? Better. ‘The Nature of Colour’(looking at how artists portray natures colours)? YES!!
Example: ‘War’? Eh. ‘Trauma’ Good. ‘Displacement’ (looking at personal experiences of migration and refugees, PERSONAL TO THE STUDENT)? EXCELLENT.
Example: ‘Mental Health’? Eh. ‘Grief’ Better. ‘Memento Mori’ (Looking at art that studies the inevitability of death)? YES.
Lastly, well done for Thursdays lesson, there was a lovely buzz in the room and I’m really excited about the year ahead!
