Final Revision for Summer Exam
2023-2024
Date Due
May 20, 2024
Additional Info
Y10s,
After our last lesson this half of term, I hope that you are feeling all set for exams. Here's some final advice about how you might want to revise for Latin over the next week:
A) Continue reviewing your vocab. Hopefully you have a system for doing this by now or a group of words you find particularly tricky. Keep at it!
B) Review your knowledge of the Grammar. The most concise summary of all the grammar we've covered this year is in the revision list. Look over this and if there are any parts that you feel unsure on, review the original notes/sentences on that topic. If you want to do further practice, do the practice sentences in the 'Latin GCSE Taylor Exercises' on OneNote and mark your work with answers at the bottom.
C) Have a practice. The paper from last year is on OneNote along with the mark scheme. I'd recommend that everyone has a go at the translation section in test conditions; the translation's the most important part of the paper and doing a practice should be really helpful. If you would like to practice the other sections of the paper, that would be helpful too for testing your knowledge of vocab/constructions etc and for exam technique.
So, in brief, keep on checking up on your notes, do some practice if/where required, and do a practice translation. You've all done brilliantly this year and should have nothing to worry about; Look at the exam as just a practice exercise and as a helpful way of re-enforcing all you've learnt this year. That's all it's for.
If I don't see you around school, enjoy and have a great half term!
