Additional Info

Today marks the first Monday of your vocabulary and grammar study. We will always start with grammar and then move to vocabulary. Your sentence for the week will be up on the board at the start of the hour.

On Mondays, please make sure to copy the sentence down EXACTLY as it appears. You will complete the tasks in the "Grammar" section of your class notebook. Please make sure that this is its own section.

This week's sentence:
many students work on the star our school newspaper

Monday task: Identify and mark the part of speech for each word in the sentence. (You will have the same task each Monday, just with a new sentence.) I will walk you through this task the first time. Use your Monday Notes and your Marking Guide to help you.

When we have completed the grammar, we will move on to vocabulary. Each Monday, you will have your vocabulary book out and ready. Week one's words are found on page 21. I will read the list of words aloud and then you will complete the required exercises. These exercises will always be the "Complete the Sentence" activity, the "Synonyms" activity, and the "Antonyms" activity. These are to be done on your own piece of paper and will become homework only if you don't finish in class, to be due at the start of the hour each Tuesday.

To start today, I will assign you a book. Once you've received a book, I will send around a sheet of paper. On the left, please clearly print your first and last name. On the right, please write the number of your book. This number is written on the inside cover.

After I have read through the words, you will have the remainder of the period to complete the vocab activities.
