3. Essay Question
Please respond to ONE of the following questions in a well-planned and thought-out paragraph:

  • In thinking about the details from the novel that Peter Brook changed in the film version of Lord of the Flies, do you think they added to the overall understanding of the story or detracted from it? Use specific changes to support your opinion.
  • In thinking about the things in the film version of Lord of the Flies that were different than you imagined them while reading, how were your perceptions of the story and/or characters enhanced or complicated? Use specific examples to illustrate your point of view.

You will have the remainder of the period to write this paragraph. Be sure to start your paragraph with a strong topic sentence (i.e. thesis statement) and use transitions between each of your examples. Although direct quotations are not needed, you must demonstrate a deep understanding of the plot and characters of the novel.
