Additional Info
Get ready, because we're going to do a lot of reviewing and catching up today! But first...

Literary Term #16: External Conflict
A struggle between a character and some person or force that is outside that character. There are several types of external conflict: man vs. man, man vs. nature, man vs. society. Recently, two more categories have been added: man vs. supernatural and man vs. technology.

Allusion #16: Thirty Pieces of Silver

Judas Iscariot, one of Christ's disciples, betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver by identifying him with a kiss in the Garden of Gethsemane. As a result, Jesus was arrested, tried, and crucified; in remorse, Judas returned the money and hanged himself. The story of the betrayal at Gethsemane is told in the gospels of Mark and Matthew.

Okay, now on to some review. We did part two in a very odd order that may have left some (or most) of you confused as to what happens and when. To help alleviate some of that confusion, let's a short video that nicely sums up what happens in this part of the book.

After the video, we will go through the questions for part two in your study guides, something that you may not have been keeping up on quite as well as you did for part one.

If we have enough time, I would like to watch one more video, this one hosted by John Green, of The Fault in Our Stars fame. He very briefly recounts the main points of the story, but goes into much more detail about WHO Odysseus was as a person. Since you will be writing essays about Odysseus, this will come in very handy for you.
