1. Literary Term #34: Informal Tone
Informal writing is similar to having an in-person conversation. Taking an informal tone involves the use of slang words, contractions, parentheticals, and non-standard sentence structures. This is a more personal tone that feels like you are speaking directly to your audience.


2. Allusion #34: Venus
Gillette has marketed a razor for women called "Venus," with the slogan, "Reveal the goddess in you." This product is named after the Roman goddess of love, beauty, and sexuality. (Greek equivalent is Aphrodite) Venus is one of the most popular goddesses and has many different names, attributes, festivals, and cults associated with her.
