Date

Additional Info
Learning Target: Students will compose an essay that characterizes Odysseus as either a classical, medieval, romantic, or modern hero.

Literary Term #17: Dramatic Irony
This is when the audience or the reader is aware of something that a character (or characters) is not.
Ex: a waterfall is up ahead
Ex: the killer is right around the corner
Ex: the beggar IS Odysseus!

Allusion #17: I Have a Dream

This speech, given by Martin Luther King, Jr., was the culmination of the March on Washington in 1963. Drawing on texts from the Old Testament and lyrics of spirituals, King called for a world where black and white were equal partners and racism was nonexistent.

Today, in preparation for your essays about Odysseus, you will write a sample paragraph that will require you to use and cite direct evidence from the text. Please follow the directions exactly as they are given.

Your final draft will be turned in when you arrive at class tomorrow.
