Additional Info
Literary Term #7: Direct Characterization
Direct characterization is when the narrator of a story tells the reader something specific about a character's personality. Nothing is left to the imagination; no inferences are made.
Example: "John was a lazy boy."
Example: "Everyone loved Christina because she had a sweet personality and was kind to everyone she met."

Allusion #7: Charon

Charon, the ferryman of the River Styx (the river that separated Earth from the Underworld), ferried the dead to the fields of Elysium, a land of perfect happiness. Greek dead were customarily buried with a coin in their mouth as payment for Charon's services. The idea of crossing a river to reach the land of the dead is older than Greek mythology; it appears in Egyptian and Mesopotamian mythology as well.
