Literary Term #15: Internal Conflict
In literature, this implies a struggle between a character and his or her own inner self. It often involves a choice between right and wrong, making an important life decision, experiencing depression, etc.

Allusion #15: The Muses

The Muses, the nine daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, were Calliope, muse of epic poetry; Clio, muse of history; Erato, muse of poetry; Euterpe, muse of lyric poetry; Melpomene, muse of tragedy; Polyhymnia, muse of hymns; Terpsichore, muse of dance; Thalia, muse of comedy; and Urania, muse of astronomy. The Muses were the goddesses of the inspiration of literature, science, and the arts.

Today, we will finish up your group art analysis presentations. Make sure that you cover the following:
  • describe the objects in the painting
  • give us anything you think the objects are symbols of
  • tell the "story" of the painting
  • give us a thematic statement (this is what the artist is trying to tell you)

After we have finished, we will return to the Google Presentation and your symbolism notes you started yesterday.
