Cover lesson task: Your new project is titled 'Chimeras'. In Greek mythology, a chimera was a fire breathing female monster with a lions head, a goats body and a serpents tail.

NB: This is NOT homework!

1. Begin by opening Showbie/Chimeras/number 1: Chimera introduction and animal drawing tasks.
2. Look through the introduction to animals in art (slides 1-22).
3. Find images of animals you like. You might have photos of your own pets on your iPad, alternatively, use Google images to select a range of animals (domestic or wild) that you like. Create a powerpoint of these images.
4. In your sketchbook/A4 paper if you don't have your book with you, fill a double page of sketches of the animals from your powerpoint. Use slides 24 to 26 to help you with your drawings, starting with basic shapes. You don't have to draw a cat and a monkey but you can apply the step by step instructions to any animal. Use a variety of materials and techniques: pencil, fine liner, biro, coloured pencil, line, tone and colour.
5. Photograph and upload this double page to Showbie/Chimeras/Number 1
6. EXTENSION TASK: Create a range of digital animal drawings using any art software you have.
7. Hand all your work in named. If your book is at home. Make sure you bring it with you next lesson.
