Date Due
Dec. 13, 2023, 11:59 p.m.
Additional Info
Due Wednesday Night!!!
Directions: Using one of the extended metaphors you created earlier in class (or one of your own ), write a poem that extends a metaphor. Your poem must . . .
___ Start with the metaphor (ex. First line is, Life is a __________).
___ Be at least 6 lines long (but more, if you want maximum points)
___ Have multiple extensions throughout the poem
___ Have additional lines to connect the comparisons (meaning, not EVERY line needs to be an extension).
**the poem should not just be a list of extensions. Reread ‘Mother to Son’ for an example of how this is done
You will write your poem on this doc. When you are done, you must write a brief reflection on this doc that tells me . . . .
___ What two unlike things are being compared in your poem
___ How your extensions build upon the initial metaphor
(ex. I compare the classroom to a zoo. By saying that the zookeeper cannot keep control, I am suggesting that the teacher is having a hard time controlling the classroom).
***Check out the rubric at the bottom of the doc! ***
