Additional Info
Good Afternoon girls,
I am sorry I am not with you this afternoon.
Next lesson you will carry out an investigation dropping paper cupcake holders (everyone seems to stop reading at the word 'cupcakes' and thinks we are dropping the cakes!!).

Today you are planning that investigation (if the plans are good enough I will bring in cupcakes to go in the cupcake holders!)

It won't take you all lesson - so there are some follow up Forces Exam Qs to crack on with that will serve as good revision in a couple of weeks when we finish this topic.

Your tasks for today;
  1. In OneNote
    • Unit 1 > Lesson 11 > 0 - Dropping investigation HANDOUTS
    • Complete the first slide using the SLIDES attached to the content library
    • Read through the rest of the slides
  2. Plan your investigation for next lesson;
    • Unit 1 > Lesson 11 > 1 - Write up
    • You will be given;
      • A stack of paper cupcake holders
      • 2x 1m rulers
      • 1x Stopwatch
      • Paperclips
      • Bluetac
      • There will be a mass balance in the room
    • You will drop a stack of paper cupcake holders. The reason for using cupcake holders is they float nicely to the ground, so they are easy to time.
    • You will probably change the mass of the stack of cupcake holders in some way. You must decide how you want to define this in your independent variable to be (e.g 'number' of cupcake holders in the stack, 'mass' of the stack of cupcake holders, number of 'paperclips' attached to the cupcake holders)
    • You will probably decide to record the time taken to fall to the ground, but you must decide what you want to do with that measurement as your 'dependent variable' (e.g. will you just simply record 'time' to fall to the ground, or will you calculate the 'average velocity' as it falls, etc.)
    • You must then COMPLETE the FIRST FIVE SECTIONS of "1 - Dropping Investigation Write Up" in Lesson 11.
      • Use the advice in your lesson HANDOUTS to help you with what shoudl be in each section.
      • You MUST HAVE a table of results READYTO FILL IN for next lesson - You will start the lesson going straight into collecting your results.
Finally, when you finish all that....
  1. I have put together a set of practice questions for the forces topic so far. Unit 1 > Lesson 11 > 8 - Forces mid topic Revision Qs
    • The mark scheme is attached to the right hand side
    • There is WAY MORE questions than I expect you to complete in one lesson - but chip away at them.  Some of the 'explain' long answer questions will be more challenging until we have done the theory of Terminal Velocity - but give them a go.  You should be able to do the equation questions with the equations of motion/Newtons law equations and the d-t / v-t graph material we have covered in this topic so far.
    • YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO COMPLETE THESE FOR HOMEWORK!!!!.... but they may be useful to come back to when you are revising!!
