Additional Info
Morning Girls,
Sorry I am not with you this morning.
We are finishing what we started last week with refraction.
There is some detail for EVERYONE to add to their handouts (even if you were in last lesson), so please work through the tasks as if you weren't here last lesson;

Go to the CONTENT LIBRARY;
Unit 3 > Lesson 08;
and use my annotated "0 - Refraction SLIDES"
to complete your HANDOUTS in the same lesson.

On the last four slides you 2 slides that show you two different types of problem;
  1. "Find the Refractive Index" - this is when you are given a diagram of refraction occurring, and you must first draw a normal line and measure i and r with a protractor, and calculate the refractive index (using the equation that will be in your handouts after you have completed the slides)
  2. "Continue the Path" - This is when you are given the start of a diagram, and you must draw a normal line and measuring i with a protractor.  Then, using the refractive index in the question you must work out r to complete the diagram.
YOUR TASK (After finishing the HANDOUTS)
  1. Use the 1st sheet (the single A4 page) to have a go at repeating my model solution from the slides (This page is just a print out of the same problem the the last slides in the handouts - its just a LOT easier to do on paper.
  2. Then work through as many of the two types of problem on the stapled A3 sheet, showing full working.
    • Can I request that you do them in batches of 2-4 from each set of problems (so you get experience of BOTH types), so do 1-4 from the 1st A3 page, then 1-4 from the second, then go back and do 5-8 from each, and so on.
I will collect the paper copies on Thursday, so please keep them safe (you may also scan them in to the page i distributed to OneNote, just in case something happens to them - but KEEP THE PAPER COPIES, they are a lot easier to mark.

IF YOU NEED PROTRACTORS, PLEASE ASK POLITELY IN THE TECHNICIANS OFFICE OR IN ANOTHER SCIENCE LAB

IF you have finished, you may...
  • Finish the Gas Laws Questions you didn't really get on to in cover last time (not your fault, there was a LOT to do!!).  To remind you, that's in
    • Unit 05 > Lesson 05
      • "7 - Past paper exam Qs (+MS)"
      • pay close attention to the key words / terminology used to access the marks.
