Hi all,

As mentioned earlier, please re-read Chapter 20 of Tess and bolster your annotations where necessary.

A few areas you could consider:

- how does Hardy posit nature as a source of renewal?

- how is foreshadowing/foreboding being used?

- where do we see a sense of fatalism?

- what is the role of light/liminality?

- what is the role of allusion (classical/religious)?

- why does Hardy end the chapter with the entrance of the other dairy workers?
