Dear L6C, 

I am really sorry that I cannot be with you today, please complete the following tasks:

1. Test each other on the elements of the Hedonic Calculus, can you remember them all!
2. Complete the slide on the Utilitarianism ppt. called 'Applying the Hedonic Calculus'. Go through each element of the HC and work out how it applies to the case study provided.
3. Complete the chart on the following slide, 'Strengths and Weaknesses of the HC'. Think about the application of the HC, what works well? What is problematic?
4. Read through the slides on Showbie about John Stuart Mill. Read this alongside the textbook to help you get a good understanding. Make a note of any questions you have so that we can discuss these on Monday. 
5. Share around some copies of Peter Vardy's book 'The Puzzle of Ethics' Read and make notes on Vardy's chapter on Utilitarianism.
