Additional Info
Here are the notes that we didn't quite get to but you will need to have them for tomorrow. Please write them down in your notebooks:
  • The Church is a great mystery: a mixture of the divine and human, the holiness of God and the sinfulness of her members, her visible elements and spiritual core

  • Many different aspects / images of the Church

  • Sacrament of Salvation: The visible and efficacious sign on earth of God's saving grace

  • The People of God: Just as the Jewish people are the Chosen People of God in the flesh, so Christians are the People of God in the Spirit

  • Mystical Body of Christ: Christ is Head of the Church, all the baptized are members of His body, with different functions. The Eucharist nourishes the Mystical Body of Christ

Bride of Christ: St. Paul is the first to compare the relationship between Christ and the Church as like a husband to a wife. Shows Christ's care and protection of the Church while also showing our duty to remain faithful to the Lord. This is why we refer to the Church as 'she.'
