11/16 Practicing Limiting Reactants

2020 - 2021

1st Semester Hillgrove Chemistry

Date

Nov. 16, 2020

Additional Info
You need:
  • Calculator
  • Periodic Table
  • Unit 5 Stoichiometry Packet Part D

1. Warm Up #4
  • Match the following:
    • A. Limiting Reactant (LR)
    • B. Excess Reactant (ER)
    • C. Theoretical Yield (TY)
  • With these below:
    • 1. ___ the reactant you have some left over once the reaction is completed
    • 2. ___ this is how much you product you can make give the amount of both reactants you are given
    • 3. ___ this is the reactant that gets ALL used up and once it runs out the reaction stops
2. Unit 5 Stoichiometry Packet Part D (Whole packet (Parts A to E) DUE Friday, Nov 20 - Day of Test)
  • F2F students: Each will be assigned a problem.
    1. Write the question you are assigned on the whiteboard neatly and clearly.
    2. (move to your right to next problem) Balance the equation the equation and show work. (Ms. Day will come and take a picture to send via remind for our VL students.)
    3. (move to your right) Double check the balancing and then erase the work (t-chart). Convert one given amount of a reactant to your choice of moles of one product.
    4. (move to your right) Double check the work from the previous person. Now convert the second given reactant amount to the same product in moles.
    5. Go work on Problems 1 - 8 and wait until we start checking them in class. (YES you need to write them down.)
  • VL students:
    1. Get your assigned number.
    2. Work that problem.
    3. Check balancing of F2F student and message in the ZOOM chat any errors you see.
    4. Work on other problems.
    5. Ms. Day will go over Problems 1 - 8. Be sure to write down ALL the work for each problem.
    6. Ms. Day will call on you to answer a question in help finding the Theoretical Yield, Limiting Reactant and Excess Reactant.
  • By the end of class you should have ALL of Part D completed

HOMEWORK: Watch Percent Yield Video and complete Part B Notes :-)
