o Ionic
o Covalent
¥ Know how to name covalent molecules and ionic formulas given the formula or elements bonded
¥ Know how to write a formula given the elements bonded or the name of the compound
¥ Know the properties of ionic, covalent and metallic compounds and how they are different from one another and the following properties: (this is a general list, refer to your class notes/foldable)
o Valence electrons behavior
o Melting point
o Ions included or not included
o State of Matter at room temp
o Conductivity
o Solubility
o Flammability
¥ Know the number electrons, strength and length of single, double and triple bonds
¥ Know the definitions of polarity, polar and non-polar bonds
¥ Know how to determine bond type given the electronegativities
¥ Know the definition and how to recognize molecules with resonance
¥ Know study guide questions (these are great short answer questions!)
¥ Be able to draw the Lewis Structure and use the 2D model to determine
o the VSEPR Geometry (shape),
o bond angle and
o bond polarity (draw on Lewis structure)
