Day 41: More Practice/Connections to Bohr Model

2018 - 2019

Chemistry

Date

Oct. 4, 2018

Additional Info
OUTLINE OF CLASS
  1. We had general questions on worksheets due thus far. Checked Keys on the blog.
  2. We completed the back of #7 by labeling and coloring the periodic table's blocks, energy levels and up/down arrows. (See KEY and whiteboard photos below if you missed today to complete.)
  3. Had work time and asked questions "one-on-one" with Coach Day. If you need help with Bohr models see Day 38 (PPT & PDF)
Today, you should have had a few "aha" moments:
  • The periodic table can help tell you the electron configuration, orbital box, short hand and Lewis Dot Models quickly!
  • How the periodic table mimics orbital sublevels and energy levels (and arrows/electrons)
  • Valence Electrons has two definitions"
    1. Outer Shell Electrons of Bohr Model
    2. Highest Principal Energy Level Electrons (Exponents added together)
HANDED OUT:
  • #6 Supplement Material Unit 4b (posted on blog Day 40: Wed, Oct 3) (Excellent overview of topics and facts to know up to this point in Chemistry in this Unit)
  • #7 What's Wrong? / Bohr Model Connection / E-conf Ions
Quiz and items DUE MONDAY, Oct 8:
  • Unit 4b Quiz (Quiz Topics posted on Day 42: Fri, Oct 5)
  • Worksheets #2 - #8 (See Day Day 42: Fri, Oct 5 for more details)
