Additional Info
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Play this Kahoot and record your score.
2. Complete the worksheet using the webquest and phet lab (open the pdf for clickable links)
3. Play Kahoot again and record your score.
4. Reflection:
  • What is the difference and similarities of ionic and covalent compounds?
  • How might these properties be used to identify a substance?
  • In what ways did your knowledge change or stay the same from the first time you played the kahoot to the second time?

Diving further options:
  1. Should we band dihydrogen monoxide? Create a Prezi with 5 transitions that include:
    • What is dihyrdogen monoxides common name?
    • Is it ionic or covalent?
    • Take a screenshot of three websites (at least one that promotes dihydrogen as safe and one that promotes dihydrogen as harmful)
    • Is it safe or harmful?
  2. Research common ionic and covalent compounds we use daily. Make a chart in ppt (use google drive) with pictures of common compounds categorized as ionic or covalent. Some examples may include: sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), paper, polymers, water, table salt, etc.
  3. Study this video and give an explanation to why the polymer ball appears to disappear in liquid. A polymer is invisible when submerged in liquid, but visible when in open air. http://www.ngssphenomena.com/#/invisible-polymer/
  4. Create a Kahoot that covers the material in this webquest for your classmates to play. (20 questions)
  5. Create a study chart for naming ionic (type 1 and 2) and covalent molecules
