Ticks are part of life here in the northeast.  As you probably know, ticks are active at any temperature above 40 degrees and tend to get on us by hitchhiking as we move through the outdoors.  We can't avoid them entirely, but we also can't avoid going outside - because the outdoors is awesome. Ticks tend to get on you and not be discovered.  Because they can to be very small, they don't always stand out.  Experts tell us to look for a freckle that moves.  Places on your body that are protected from discovery tend to be where they like to go: in hair behind ears armpits belly buttons waistbands of clothes groin area behind knees If you've never done a tick check on yourself before, check out the infographic below, courtesy of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.  (napnapknowslyme.org)
