Assignment Details

Chem - (double); finish reading; finish Aluminum can Qs and drawings

2021-2022

Chemistry (A)

Date Due

April 29, 2022

Additional Info
  • Finish reading Chapter 10, if you haven't already.
  • Finish your sketches and questions for the aluminum can experiment last week.  Each drawing should show visible particles (where their numbers could be counted!), a key, showing WHAT the particles are, pressure arrows shown inside and outside the can, and some indication of particle speed (at different temps). Some hints are:  1.) in experiment 1 container 2, when heating the air, fewer particles (moving faster) are in the can than in drawing 1 -- with pressure still being the same inside and outside the can;  2.) in experiment 2, container 2, water VAPOR accumulates above the liquid and pushes virtually all of the air out of the hole in the can.  3.) In experiment 2 container 3, think about what would happen to all of that water vapor in the can when you turned it upside down into ice water and sealed the hole?
  • Bring your computers, with Logger Pro loaded. We will be doing a nice experiment involving phase changes and making graphs simultaneously.
