Chem G - Finish Lab; QUIZ on Chapter 4 (See below!)

2020-2021

Chemistry (G)

Date

Dec. 4, 2020

Additional Info
  • Finish up your Flame Test Lab -- Including an "objective" on the data table sheet and answering the Qs on separate paper (or in the space below) in complete sentences. Be thorough, and read the prompts carefully.
  • Quiz:  SEE OneNote Ch. 4 for a review sheet (with answer key) as well as a practice test and answer key!!! Taking the practice test is an excellent thing to do as part of your preparation.
  • The quiz will include bold-faced terms from the chapter as well as concepts. You should review the POGIL activities, class notes, and homework. You should know how the bright-line spectrum helped Bohr come up with a revolutionary idea about how electrons are arranged in atoms -- and how THAT spectrum differs from a continuous spectrum or from an absorption spectrum. You need to know the two mathematical equations regarding waves, and how frequency, wavelength and energy relate to each other.
  • Other things/people we've discussed are the photoelectric effect, wave-particle duality, De Broglie, Planck, Schrodinger, quantum numbers (and what each tells us), the Pauli Exclusion Principle, Hund's Rule, the Aufbau Principle, etc. You should be able to do a full electron configuration, an orbital diagram, and a shorthand configuration for any element on the periodic table. (You will be given a table to use.)
