Chem C -- lab presentations; do pH worksheet

2018-2019

Chemistry (A)

Date Due

May 10, 2018

Additional Info
  • do the pH worksheet, posted on OneNote.  Show the formulas and WORK, especially for the ones that are more complicated than just looking at the exponent; please get notes if you weren't in class or look at the textbook to understand how to do it.....
  • We collected the pH POGIL in class after going over the extension
  • lab presentations; those who were here on Wednesday will show their titration curves. Please have a title (such as "Titration of NH3 with HCl") and be prepared to identify the pH at the equivalence point, the pH where the indicator changes color (assumed to be 9), explain WHY the starting pH is what it is, explain the ending pH, identify the salt formed at the equivalence point, and explain whether that salt is an acidic, basic, or neutral salt (look at the equivalent point pH!). Finally, WAS phenolphthalein a good choice of indicator or not?  Why?  You can write on the white board on top of your graph if you don't want to label the graph too much ahead of time.  Or, if you want to use the text box function, you could do that, too. This is informal--not for the grade but for the learning--especially to help those who weren't here!
