Date Due

Additional Info
  • Crunch the numbers for your big Hess's Law Lab. Follow the directions on the last sheet-- both the hints and the calculations page. You should be able to determine YOUR experimental value for the enthalpy of formation of solid ammonium chloride, based on your lab results. (Unless you used different sample sizes, or you have a reason to discard one or more of your graphs, you may feel free to find the AVG delta T, and use that to find q diss or q neut.) The trickiest thing, and what I want you to try to figure out for yourself (or see me, if you need a hand)--is what to DO with q diss and q neut to find delta H. Again, the hints page will help.
  • Get started on the Norton Tutorials linked from Moodle Chapter 7 under "internet resources" at the bottom. There are 6 altogether. Do them in the order listed. They are really excellent!
  • Begin reading Chapter 7, and read as much as you can. It is a "dense" chapter, in which some of it will be review for you, and some will be new.
  • Our next couple of chapters before the semester exams in December will cover electrons, configurations, quantum numbers, bonding, and molecular shapes, etc. (Chapters 7-8 and parts of 9 or 10)
