  • Choose a story from the Metamorphoses.
  • Identify approx. 10 lines to analyse in Latin.
  • Find the Latin text online. 
  • Use a dictionary or Perseus online to ensure that you know the precise meaning and form of each individual word.
  • Produce your own translation.
  • Create a presentation:
    • Summarise the story.
    • Present your translation of your chosen 10 lines.
    • Draw our attention to any interesting features of style or content (as if it were a literature lesson).
  • Presentations should last about 5 minutes.
  • They will take place on 24 June and 1 July.
  • Decide among yourselves who will present on 24 June and who will present on 1 July.
Before our next lesson, aim to have chosen your story, scanned an English translation of the entire story, scanned the relevant pages from the commentary.

The Penguin translations of the Metamorphoses are back in H5, along with the commentaries. Please note that I no longer have the commentary on Books 11-15, so you may want to find a story from Books 1-10.
