Additional Info
There are three things to do this week. Make sure you finish the first two activities for Friday's lesson.

Firstly, take back your exercise books from behind the teacher's desk. I have looked through these books but have not yet marked them. This is because of the following:
  1. Some books are not up to standard in their presentation and neatness, other books are disgraceful.
  2. Pupils have not been properly titling pieces of work. All work needs to be properly titled.
  3. Pupils have not been cutting and gluing paper into their books when needed. All loose paper must be glued in at the correct place.
  4. There are incomplete pieces of work and activities in most books, which must be finished as much as possible.
  5. There are drawings, doodles, scribbles, pen stains and other messy displays on many books, which need to be removed immediately. This in particular is very important. It is disrespectful to submit books in this condition.
Secondly, you will start a completely new topic today. Under the title ATHENS AND SPARTA, please write the below questions AND answers in your exercise book. Skip lines between all questions and answers. Use your Ipad to help you if you don't know the answers.
  1. Why is Athens called this?
  2. What did the Ancient Greeks call Sparta? Why?
  3. What are the symbols of Athens, and why?
  4. What is the symbol of Sparta, that was shown on the shield of every Spartan warrior?
  5. Which Greek hero founded the town of Athens?
  6. Why is the Parthenon, on the acropolis of Athens, called this?
  7. What does 'acropolis' mean?
  8. Who was the mythical founder of Sparta?
  9. Why did Sparta have no acropolis or walls?
  10. What word describes the Spartan government structure?
  11. When was democracy introduced to Athens, and by whom?
  12. In Sparta, who shared the political power?
  13. Give some examples of Athens and Sparta cooperating together in Greek history.Trojan
  14. What was the Peloponnesian War? Why did this take place?
  15. In two columns, list the ways in which Athens and Sparta were very different to each other.
Thirdly, if you have finished both of the above, please read over and learn your lines for the play quietly and independently.
