Additional Info
I'm really sorry to miss you again today.

The mock revision list shows that we need to have completed variation (evolution is NOT on the mock). In Monday's lesson, you made notes on variation, so technically you are all done! However, I'd like to go over a couple of points with you on variation so will do that next Monday. (I know some of you are out next Thursday for Carol Service rehearsals.)

So for today's lesson, I have decided to ask you to consolidate inheritance, pedigrees, and crosses, as well as do some other revision (to make up for the time we won't be revising next week when I go through some variation bits).

1. Homework review
I have marked your homework from last week. I'm sorry it was tricky and that it was a bit long. I have distributed my annotated version to you all (in '13.5 Monohybrid crosses'), so please review your answers and establish whether you know where you lost marks on the basis of my notes. Please make a note of any outstanding questions you have so we can talk them through on Monday.

2. Extra exam Qs
In '13.5 Monohybrid crosses', you will also find two pages with extra exam Qs on. These pages include the mark schemes. Please attempt the questions either with or without the mark schemes alongside, whatever you choose; both approaches will be valuable at this point.

3. Mock revision
Use any remaining time to do some revision for your mock exam. You can revise how you choose, but I have distributed the following in case they are useful:
  • Under 'Required practicals' in 'Tests + revision + reflection', I have started uploading the resources that the Biology Department has started developing this year. They include method/practical sheets and sets of questions for each of the practicals. There are also mark schemes for the questions.
  • Under 'Y11 revision activities', you will find two new pages, one on the eye and one on cells.
