Additional Info

An inference is an idea (your thinking) thatÕs made from evidence (things you read or see). Another way to think of it is putting the pieces together. It comes from you Ð you are the one creating it. Inferences arenÕt necessarily right or wrong. TheyÕre just your best idea, using clues and your own knowledge to fill in the gaps and draw conclusions. Your unique background will change how you make inferences in a story. It is important to be exposed to different perspectives. Making inferences to draw conclusions is what people like detectives and archaeologists do.

Please read the "Lamb to the Slaughter" police report first. Infer (draw a conclusion) what happened to Mr. Maloney. How and why was he murdered?

Then read "Lamb to the Slaughter" by Roald Dahl and see if your inferences were correct.
