Additional Info
Dear all,
There is a possibility I may be a little late to the lesson on Friday morning as I will be racing in from my son's nativity play. I will be there as soon as possible, but given this is our final lesson of the term we don't want to waste any time, so please can you do the following:
- Work through the translation from lines 452-468. I have put it in your One Notes in the Content Library (in Translations) and I will also copy it at the bottom of this message.
- If for any reason you have finished this and I am still not there, start analysing the Latin.
Translation: There was an entrance and unseen doors, and a passage serving to link Priam's halls with each other, and doors undefended from the back, through which, while the kingdom was remaining, unlucky Andromache quite often used to go unaccompanied to her parents-in-law and bring along the boy Astyanax to his grandfather. I escape to the topmost point of the highest roof-top, from where the miserable Trojans were hurling useless missiles with vigour. There was a tower standing at the edge, rising up from the top of the buildings to the stars, from where we were accustomed to see over the whole of Troy, both the ships of the Greeks and the Achaean camp. We attacked this all around with swords, where the highest storeys yielded tottering joints, and we tore it down from its high position and pushed it over; it slipped and suddenly dragged the ruin with a crash, and fell far and wide on top of the column of the Greeks. But others came on, and meanwhile the rocks and other types of missiles did not cease.
Best wishes,
Mrs Robertson
