Easter: Revision and 20 Marker
2024-2025
Greek U6 Verse Literature Mrs Greenoakes
Date Due
April 22, 2025
Additional Info
Hi all,
Over Easter, please complete the following as part of your revision:
1. Learn the translation of the text absolutely inside out, word by word, make sure you know how each Greek word translates and you can translate passages out of context, in isolation. This is the most important thing to have mastered before returning after Easter.
2. Please plan and complete one of the following 20 marker questions. I have allocated them - if you want to switch please communicate this between yourselves, but make sure that each question is covered by one of you!
A. No human character in the play is wholly innocent or wholly guilty. How true is this statement of Phaedra, the Nurse, Hippolytus and Theseus? (Hana)
B. Despite being women of Troezen, the Chorus offer surprisingly little support to Phaedra in Hippolytus. To what extent do you agree? (Sadie)
C. 'Self-control is always to be admired. The fruit it bears for mortals is a good name.' To what extent do you agree with the Chorus in relation to the play? (Isabeau)
You can use the existing quotation banks to help you and please do add to them - they are in the Collaboration Space so that you can all access and add to them.
Good luck! Do get in touch if you have any questions - I will aim to check in with my emails intermittently over the break.
