Additional Info

You will have been displaced to the upstairs Art room (Knight Studio) to continue your portrait painting. Please remember to mix a huge variety of colours if you are going to match the skin tones in your photograph. YOU MUST BE LOOKING AT BOTH YOUR PHOTOGRAPH AND ARTIST ARTWORK! This is essential to the success of your portrait. Remember to look carefully at the brushwork of your artist and their colours. However, you are not doing a copy of their work but a painting of your photograph. Remember to look on Showbie for the colour mixing reminders, you must mix up a good amount of a base skin colour, then mix a black, brown and green to begin to add to this base to create a variety of skin tones. If you have painted in dark red on your underpainting then your actual colours need to be equally dark, likewise if your red underpainting is very pale then your actual colours also need to be pale. If you eliminate all of your red painting then you will have removed the tonal detail of the red underpainting and you will end up with a flat portrait! Observing the light in your photograph is still your most important job!
