Cover lesson work
1. Today you are going to make a lovely map of Africa’s physical geography, using 4 and 6 figure references to help you!!
A reminder of how to do grid references is on p2 of the worksheet. Read this.
2. Colour in the key using sensible colours eg yellow for deserts . Mountains are often shaded light brown and mountain peaks with a red or purple triangle.
3. Follow the instructions carefully to complete the questions ie shade AND label for questions 1-3. NB if a desert square overlaps into the sea, don’t colour in the sea as deserts don’t float! Just colour in up to the edge of the Africa boundary.
Label (don’t shade) the seas and oceans when you get to question 4.
4. Label the wiggly lines drawn on in blue (the rivers) with their names for question 5, by writing the name alongside the wiggly lines following the shape. You’ll need to use both 6 figure grid references to identify the rivers by their source (where they start) and their mouth (where they end by flowing into the sea)
5. For question 6 you need to use the triangle shape for the key,
6. For questions 7-9 note you are writing initials only
7. And for question 10 follow the instructions carefully about which part of each square to shade in.

Good luck and have fun!
