Consider a problem facing your school or community. Write an editorial to appear in your local newspaper or to be presented to your principal, in which you explain the situation and explain why the situation needs attention and how it should be corrected.

Prewriting: -List the elements of the problem. -Write facts, examples, and explanations that present a solution. Categorize your ideas to identify those that provide strong emotional, logical and ethical appeals. Consider sources, such as local leaders, whom you might cite in an appeal to authority.
